The Vblock Data Protection solution for backup and recovery is available in the following VCE configurations:

One VCE cabinet that contains EMC Avamar

One VCE cabinet that contains EMC Avamar and another VCE cabinet that contains EMC Data

One VCE cabinet that contains EMC Avamar

This solution is best used when the EMC sizing tool determines that an EMC Avamar-only deployment is the

most effective solution.

The VCE backup and recovery solution that contains EMC Avamar in one VCE cabinet contains EMC Avamar

switches, Cisco Nexus 5548UP switches, EMC Avamar data nodes, and utility nodes with built-in networking,

and two external connection cables to the Vblock system. The minimum configuration has three data nodes

and one utility node. Expansion space is provided in the cabinet for up to 13 additional nodes in any

combination of spare node, data nodes (16 total maximum), and NDMP accelerator nodes. The Cisco

Nexus 5548UP switches connect the data protection cabinet to the Vblock system. When you add additional

components in the available expansion area, add components starting from the bottom of the expansion area.
